Barb has worked with Good Shepherd’s children’s music ministry since 1998, and became the leader of the Celebrate Worship team in 1999. Her ministry style brings enthusiasm, sincerity and passion to all seeking a spirit-filled worship service. She believes we glorify God by sharing our gifts and talents with others in fellowship and community, and insists that laughter, clapping and singing from the heart be at the center of all music ministries.
Barb has BA degrees in Child Development and psychology, and an M.Ed in education. Although not a music major “because in my era, college music majors couldn’t find a job!” she worked with children’s choirs for ages 3-14, for 18 years at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rowland Heights, CA. She began her contemporary music experience in high school, singing with a traveling Christian group called Humneo. She continues to keep current on new worship tunes through participating in a variety of professional activities, most recently attending the Breakforth worship conference in Edmonton Canada.
She enjoys working part-time as a public policy consultant and lobbyist on children’s issues like child care and Head Start, playing golf, hanging out with the Celebrate! Buddies at Space Aliens, camping and family nights with her husband Jeff (senior pastor of GSLC) Joren age 6, and Britta a spunky three year old.
